Meet Corona II—the spring-powered sibling of my popular electric-series Corona, made for art lovers who want a more organic, hands-on connection with their kinetic sculpture. If you're drawn to movement, mesmerizing visuals, and beautifully crafted materials—all in a smaller footprint—Corona II was made with you in mind.

The lightweight, polymer-coated aluminum pattern wheels are beautifully complemented by the rest of the sculpture, which features imported Baltic Birch—a high-quality wood prized for its strength and striking natural grain. There's no paint covering up the beauty here; each birch piece is carefully hand-sanded, stained, and finished with a tough urethane coating to protect against sunlight and humidity. The frame is crafted from laminated birch, sealed with multiple layers of polyacrylic to ensure long-lasting moisture resistance and durability.

Corona II is powered by a stainless steel constant-force spring—a quiet, reliable little engine that doesn’t need batteries or plugs. Just wind the lower pulley (about 20 turns until the red band shows), give the rear pattern wheel a gentle clockwise nudge, the front counter-clockwise, and you’re off. Watch as hypnotic, random patterns unfold before your eyes—for up to 2½ hours.

The belt that drives the motion is stainless steel spring material, not rubber. That means no stretching, no cracking, and no corrosion over time—just smooth, consistent movement that keeps going year after year.
